Question:

How does the ModSync interface with my boilers?

ANSWER:

The ModSync can be configured to interface with each boiler stage in a variety of ways. A modbus daisy- chain network is the most popular today. The interface will be dependent on the type of flame programmer used with each boiler stage. Hybrid boiler systems may have more than one type of boiler interface depending on the boiler manufacturer and flame programmers used.

Question:

Can the ModSync communicate system information to my Building Management System?

ANSWER:

The ModSync includes modbus communication to a Building Management System. This communication allows for system information to be shared with the front end. BACnet MSTP, BACnet IP, LonWorks and N2 protocols are also available. Synex Controls develops and supports all integration with Building Management Systems internally. All technical questions are handled by our In-House Support Team.

Question:

Why should I use a ModSync Sequencing System instead of a boiler control that has integrated lead/lag capabilities?

ANSWER:

Integrated lead/lag controls require that one boiler in the system be dedicated as the “Master”. This boiler will have the common temperature sensors for system lead/lag wired to it such as outdoor air and supply temperature. In the event that the local controller on the Master boiler becomes inactive, the sensors will need to be rewired to another boiler stage in the system in order to maintain any lead/lag functionality.

Systems utilizing the ModSync Sequencing System will not require rewiring of the sensors. The ModSync will simply disable a boiler stage if an alarm condition occurs and reposition the remaining boilers in the lead/lag sequence. No rewiring or network addressing adjustments are needed.

Integrated lead/lag controls have fixed hardware and software designs which eliminate the ability to adapt the controls to the system. The ModSync is completely customizable, either upfront or during commissioning, allowing for much simpler development and design solutions.
